What is the difference between cosmetic and reconstructive surgery?

Cosmetic surgery is performed to reshape normal structures of the body in order to improve appearance and self-esteem. Cosmetic surgery is usually not covered by health insurance because it is elective. Reconstructive surgery is performed on abnormal structures of the body caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors or disease.

What is the recovery from cosmetic surgery like?

Each patient tolerates pain after surgery in different ways. Your surgeon will prescribe the appropriate pain medications to help minimize any discomfort. In general, most facial cosmetic operations have minimal discomfort post-operatively. Liposuction is slightly more uncomfortable, and operations that require elevation or tightening of the muscles-such as an abdominoplasty or breast augmentation can cause discomfort equal to a C-section.

Where will my procedure be performed?

Most elective surgeries are performed on an outpatient basis in the surgeons specified facility, but if emergency hospitalization becomes necessary, you want to be sure that you can be admitted quickly for appropriate care.

What is a faja?

A Faja is a snug fitting garment that has several uses. The most common and well known use for fajas is as a post surgery garment. In that case, the Faja acts as a compression garment, helping to control bruising and swelling, while at the same time helping to shape and mold your body.

How long do I have to wear my faja for?

After drains have been removed and your body is better healed, you will be asked to transition to a second-stage garment (sometimes called a “faja”) six months to a year.

When can I take my foams/boards out?

To allow the lymphatic system to properly heal after surgery we recommend you wait up to six weeks.

What is the difference between cavitation and ultrasound?

Ultrasound uses heat and energy to increase circulation, decrease pain, increase flexibility, and speed healing. It also uses a different frequency of sound versus it's cousin, cavitation. Cavitation uses a higher frequency to target adipose (fat) tissues and liquify them so that the body can metabolism the tissues and flush it out in your lymph system.

How does radiofrequency work?

Radio frequency also known as radiofrequency skin tightening, is a non surgical method of tightening your skin. This procedure involves using energy waves to heat the deep layers of your skin which stimulates the production of collagen.

It breaks down fat and cellulite tissues so that it can be eliminated naturally with other toxins through the lymphatic system. It also increases the speed of your metabolism therefore it helps one loose weight with the proper diet. It is more on the aggressive side so it can hurt, everybody is different. For some it may hurt more than others.

Why does someone else's results look better than mine?
